Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about the past, particularly about the years we’ve lived together with Yana. I couldn’t help but joyfully smile each time I would realize how amazingly blessed we are to do what we adore and love in life. Of course, it is wonderful to own a business, build your own schedule, be your own boss kind of things. And sure, those are nice byproducts of owning a business, but not even near its the focus of it. Yet, one of the biggest blessings in life  is to know how you’re wired and to be able to apply it in your life. And that of itself makes me feel happy.

To be honest with you, its not really that we knew photography would be our calling. We sort of stumbled on it as life did its unpredictable turns with us. And at first it was unbelievable and scary to invest into something that you aren’t sure of at all. In fact, when we first picked up a DSLR in our hands, we knew absolutely zero about anything in regards to photography as an art, or the equipment. I remember picking up a lens not even knowing how to read all that its written on it. It was really hard getting into photography. Besides constantly having a million of new questions about every single thing, we didn’t have absolutely anybody who would be nice and kind enough to share some of that information with us. So little by little, every bit of a thing we now do, we had to learn it on our own. Try things out, see what works and what doesn’t and simply rely on God and each other for support and strength to go on.

So, looking back at our journey and counting our blessings, we wanted to give back and share some of the valuable information, starting from the first days we owned a DSLR up until today. Surely, some of you are in the same boat as we were back in the days and through a series of many personal posts, we’ll be sharing bits and pieces of most important steps we’ve taken along the way.

Annnddd…. recently we took some time off and took a trip to Santa Barbara…here is just a few out of gazillion photos we took!

So, today we are posting some of the photos from a photoshoot with Alina Kamilchu. She is an extremely talented and gifted singer as well as a song writer. And it is our great privilege to introduce her to you. You can visit her website here , and like her facebook page here. Even though, she is only starting her career, we are convinced of a wonderful and successful future that is ahead of her. There aren’t too many people who are young, yet are equally talented, wise with their decisions and are dedicated followers of Christ. We wish you, Alina, all the best in your career as a musician, and hope you will keep being very inspiring and fresh, as you always are. You can hear her sing, here on youtube

Ali kindly agreed to participate in this little interview, so check it out:

1.  What is your name? When and where were you born?
Ali K, born in Sacramento Cali 1990

2.  When did you start to learn music? (How old were you?)
At 5 yrs old I began to play violin and still play it on occasion.

3. Is your family musical?
Very much so. My dad would put me to sleep with the sound of a nylon string guitar just about every night and growing up. The house was constantly filled with some sort of sound of music.

4.Who writes your songs?
Myself :]

5.What genre/style of music do you consider your work to be?
Christian/Acoustic/Folk

6. Who do you sound like and what musicians or bands influenced your music?
People say they can see how I was influenced by Brooke Fraser while listening to my songs.
Some of my other influences would be Jon Foreman, Coldplay,Future of Forestry, anything really that speaks to the soul and heart.

7.When and where do you usually play music?
Churches, coffee shops, festivals, weddings .. you name it. Also
I love playing outside in nature. gives me room to breathe and create new songs.

8.What makes a performance/song good? How do you judge a performance/song?
CONFIDENCE, I believe that is what is missing in performers or singers.
I Judge songs by the melody making sure it collides with the lyrics.
and the MESSAGE, I want to know what’s on the singer’s heart.
the audience will connect through your message.

9. What are your musical goals a few years down the road?
Lord willing, I would love to perform with other well-known artists whom I can learn from and worship God with.
& record a full band album.

10. What do you like to do in your spare time?
Read, cook, write& spend quality time with family and friends.

Hey everyone! If you are in Fresno area, I hope you’re enjoying the last ( and I must say, very unexpected)  of the cooler days of this year. I don’t really remember the last time it actually rained in the mid of May around here. Nevertheless, its nice to get a little bit of cool before summer will finally reign with its scorching heat waves…

Below is the engagement photo shoot of Alex and Liz. We had a good time browsing around a huge field with, due to a wet season, very tall grass. It was very wonderful to peak into their relationship and discover very thoughtful, deep and calm personalities. Its so fascinating, with every shoot, to discover how different and unique the combination of personalities could be. And that is so inspiring…

Weddings

We had quite an issue with Andrew and Cam’s wedding photos. It took us a while to go through them and pick our favorites – there were just too many to choose from! I mean, pretty much everything: the location, the crowd, the weather, and the overall mood of the day was just so great. We really did want to thank Andrew and Cam for making their day so stress-less and relaxing. It released the typical pressures of the wedding day from us and allowed us to relax and concentrate on our job.

I have to mention that the wedding took place at a beautiful Englemann Cellars Winery. It is a beautiful location and a great winery. And we also wanted to say a special thank you to the wedding coordinator, Suzanne Devereaux, from Encore Events and Planning. Suzanne, you did such an amazing job and we were so pleased to work with you, so thank you very much!

With that being said, take a look at a bunch of our favs from their wedding:

admin: ( May 18, 2011 4:20 am ) @Dan M we use a combination of different lenses. What particular shot are you talking about? its either 35f1.4, 70-200, a 50f1.4 or an 85f1.8

Dan M.: ( May 17, 2011 2:05 am ) Fantastic photos! What lens did you guys use for these shots? A 50mm? I'm just curious because it looks like you have a pretty low f/stop in those photos. Love the depth of field!

Jayne: ( May 6, 2011 5:05 am ) 6th shot from the bottom is my favorite!

Lidia S: ( May 6, 2011 4:48 am ) Good job guys, beautiful Pictures and Beautiful girl. :)
