I remember, a few posts ago, I blogged about photography equipment. Probably for some of your it was quite boring to read through very technical information that you have no clue about. Nevertheless, I wanted to touch on that subject from a little bit different angle.

Sometimes, I feel like Yana and I are photographers with very similar tastes and visions. And there are other times when I look through our work and say to myself: “Whatttt????” And the thing is, as some photographer once said “a photographer can’t ever take the same exact picture of the same thing in the same settings”. That is very true. And it is 1000 times more true when it comes to two different photographers taking photos of the same subject in the same settings.

What you all see, is a finished product combined of two different visions into one coherent post. What you don’t see is a lot of similarities in tastes, music, art, and a lot of disagreements on which photo looks better, to “pick” or not to “pick” and other mess of creative process. As you see, there are many things that unite us and help us be like minded. On the other hand there are just as many little details and preferences that make both of us have unique vision of the setting.

For example, lenses. Personally, I think each lens is a tool that you can use to express how you feel about things. So,there are times when a wide angle lens simply doesn’t make sense to me – it doesn’t feel like it. Yet it stuns me to see Yana right by my side using a 35mm. And both the images, from my camera and hers, end up looking good.

Images below, from Mikhail and Megan’s lovely shoot, we limited ourselves only to two lenses: Yana’s favorite, 35mm, and my favorite 50mm.

Ok now on to Mikhail and Megan. This shoot was spectacular, The outdoor space, the light, totally easy going couple! We enjoyed every minute of their shoot.

Enough said, now keep scrolling :)

Good evening, my friends.

A few years ago, I attended English 3, or creative writing class at a local college. Ironically, my professor was Hungarian and had a strong, eastern-European accent. At first, I was quite skeptical about a foreigner teaching me English. But I was wrong. She was a very educated lady, and I was both, humbled and amazed at how much she’s read, as well as the amount of knowledge she had on various subjects. About half of the semester down the road, she told us (very surprisingly to me!) that she had studied journalism at the University of Lomonosov(the MGU, top school in Russia and one of the top 10 universities in the world). One time, she told us, she came in the office of some local journalist/columnist in Moscow. As she walked in, she immediately noticed a big poster on the wall that said this: “Once again, carefully take a look at how beautiful a blank sheet of paper is! – don’t screw it up”. I really liked that sentence. In fact, sometimes I wish I would remember it before I want to say something foolish.

Its a great concept, isn’t it? And I think it could be applied in many parts of our lives. If we don’t have anything wonderful to do, or to say why do it? It’ll only screw it up…

Now, back to photography :) Being slammed with work, we just found some time to post a few photos from our recent engagement of Josh and Damara. Scroll down… :)
